L’Oreal Caresse Sheer Lipstick – 101 Tempting Lilac

The new L’Oreal Caresse range has been released recently, although official PR anywhere has been a basic dead-end – so sorry if the usage is wrong, but this is just my impression. I think they are meant to be the L’Oreal answer to the much coveted Revlon Lip Butters or maybe the Dior Addict Lipsticks (from the packaging?).

I picked up just a couple of these to get some first impressions before I go over the top on them!! The first one I want to chat about is the one I find most wearable, called Tempting Lilac . I think the name for the Tempting Lilac shade is a bit off – I cannot see how this is really that lilac, at most I would call this a light mauve, a sheer dusty rosey-mauve in fact! Like the other shade I have tried in the Caresse range (Lovely Rose) it packs a little punch in the colour department, but it’s not buildable in the slightest. It feels quite thick and waxy when worn, but I’m not buying the whole ‘moisturising’ thing for this range (if this is what they are meant to do) – after it had worn off, my lips didn’t feel any better in terms of moisturisation for either of the shades I bought. As you can see it does pick up the dry bits on my lips very slightly, but doesn’t settle into the cracks too badly. The wear is a couple of hours if you’re not eating or drinking – so not amazing, but it is only a sheer lippie so I didn’t expect long wear like I would a matte finish (for example).

These cost £7.99 each and come in a range of colours (although I only picked up a couple initially). The packaging is nice, with a barrel which has a similar appearance to the Dior Addict Lipsticks and a clear cap with a coloured top, allowing you to see the lipstick. Unlike most of the other L’Oreal lipsticks, these have a flat top, so storage is easier (big thumbs up!) – but the lid is still fairly stiff to open – so no chance of it opening and messing up the inside of your bag (another thumbs up)!

Overall I like the colour, it is a really nice and easy shade for me to whack on at any time and is great for work when I need to be more subtle on the make-up front. It needs no time to apply and is great when you just want to add a little splash of colour to your lips. As I said, I wouldn’t say this one was moisturising on me and it did show up the little flakies on my lips a bit. I’m looking forward to trying out more from the nudes/browns in this range next time I see them! Did you pick up any of these new Caresse lipsticks? What did you think? Any other suggestions for a more nude shade from the Caresse range? Hope you’re all having a great week!! Sarah xx
